Aleksandar Milosavljevic, DDS, PhD, is a specialist periodontist, Assistant Professor, and Head of Periodontology at Malmö University. His work bridges clinical expertise, academic teaching, and innovative research focused on digital transformation in periodontal care.
Aleksandar Milosavljevic earned his degree in dental surgery from Malmö University in 2009 and subsequently pursued doctoral studies in periodontology, successfully defending his PhD thesis in 2018. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University, where he is also clinically active as a specialist periodontist. In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Aleksandar serves as Head of the subject area in periodontology.
His research centers on digital transformation and behavior change in periodontal care, with a particular interest in augmented reality, serious gaming, and clinical decision-making. He has served as both main applicant and co-applicant on multiple funded research projects and has received several distinctions, including the Swedish Dental Society’s Award for Best Doctoral Thesis and Malmö University’s Award for Doctoral Thesis of the Year (2019).
Aleksandar has authored scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and contributes to the scientific community as a peer reviewer for several outlets. He is frequently invited to lecture at national and international events and teaches a range of continuing education courses for dentists and dental specialists. He is Vice Chair of the AVOLA Association Board and an active member of the Swedish Society of Periodontology and Implantology as well as the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).
Outside of dentistry, Aleksandar is a passionate videogame enthusiast and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their two children.
