Tiny teeth, big strategies: Mini iTOP and behavioral science in pediatric care

3h English

Exclusive for Ajman University - Paediatric Master Program Students

Individually trained oral prophylaxis (iTOP) is the main pillar of oral health maintenance and has been implemented in dental practices worldwide.

Effective regular mechanical plaque control, the principal component of the iTOP concept, is a gold standard that can be achieved only by well-informed and trained individuals.

It is of paramount importance for prevention, successful treatment, and maintenance of the results achieved following therapy.

As one size does not fit all, iTOP advocates an individual approach tailored to the individual needs of our patients. As such, it is highly effective in promoting positive behaviour and habits towards the prevention of the most common oral diseases, such as dental caries and periodontitis.

iTOP – individually trained oral prophylaxis – is a method to learn optimal oral health management through hands-on training (T2T) on the use of selected tools and techniques.

Learning Objectives

Touch to Teach – a unique approach.

Yes, a presentation is helpful. However, you can only learn how to properly use the tools and techniques under systematic guidance from a professional. That’s Touch to Teach. Try it out, make mistakes, try again and gather your own experience. With professionals on your side, we will help until you’ve got it. This very personal method is used in iTOP seminars – and your practice.
