Dr Devan Raindi - The Specialist Periodontist:

Dr Devan Raindi qualified from the University of Birmingham, receiving the prestigious Carlton Gold Medal and numerous awards across all dental specialities.

He has completed the 4-year specialist training programme at Kings College London, Guy’s Dental Hospital, graduating to a Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) with Distinction. He is based in private practice as a Specialist in Periodontics in the West Midlands and Central London, where he accepts referrals for all types of periodontal care.

His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical and dental journals, and he has been part of the workshop groups involved in implementing the UK clinical guidelines for the treatment of periodontitis, the rehabilitation of periodontitis patients and peri-implantitis treatment.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Member of the Faculty of Dental Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, teaching a range of postgraduate dental courses and founding The Perio Coach® teaching courses. He is an invited member of both the BSP Faculty and Fellow of the College of General Dentistry and was the UK Ambassador at EuroPerio in 2025.

Aim

To explore the evidence-based approach to periodontitis patients requiring orthodontic intervention.

Objectives

• Understand the latest guidelines when considering orthodontics in the periodontitis patient.
• Consider the impact that orthodontics may have on the periodontium in a periodontally stable and unstable patient.
• Consider the role of soft tissue grafting and its relevance to an orthodontic treatment plan.
