Another pandemic: Diabetes! Why should the dental team bother?
Corinna Bruckmann

Panoramica del corso
The relationship between diabetes and periodontitis has long been recognized within the dental community. It was essential to routinely inform diabetic patients about the importance of proper periodontal treatment and maintaining a healthy periodontium in relation to their diabetic condition.
Effective treatment of periodontitis in diabetic patients demonstrated significant benefits, including lowering HbA1c blood levels, improving vascular and kidney function, and reducing systemic inflammation (D’Áiuto et al., 2018). This lecture covered key facts about the mutual relationship between periodontitis and diabetes, how to identify patients at risk, screening methods for both periodontal disease and diabetes in the dental office, how to provide personalized advice for patients with periodontitis and diabetes, and crucial aspects of patient management.
