Setting the Foundation: Compliance and Motivation of Ortho Patients

iTOP Ortho Introductory

iTOP Overview

This introductory seminar equips oral health professionals with the tools to guide patients before orthodontic appliances are placed—when education has the greatest long-term impact, and during the therapy with braces.

Participants will be introduced to the principles of the iTOP (Individually Trained Oral Prophylaxis) philosophy, focusing on teaching proper oral hygiene in the pre-treatment phase, and adjustments while wearing the braces. It provides ortho specialists with a scientifically backed, patient-centred framework to:
Prevent complications proactively
Maintain a healthy oral environment before and throughout treatment
Protect the patient’s investment—and the orthodontist’s results

This approach turns routine oral hygiene instructions into a strategic clinical tool. The iTOP method, supported by the practical Touch-to-Teach (T2T) approach, empowers professionals to instill correct habits early, ensuring success for both the treatment and the treating clinician.
